Five Acre Co. is a locally owned and operated Vancouver Island company dedicated to producing high-quality live events that bring people together. What began as a single memorial concert has grown into a full-service event production company, venue operator, and community-driven platform for live music and gatherings.
Rooted in Port Alberni, we specialize in professional stage, sound, and lighting solutions for events of all sizes, while also producing and hosting our own concerts and festivals. Through The KCC and our mobile production services, we support artists, organizers, and communities by providing reliable infrastructure, experienced technical support, and thoughtful event planning.
At every stage of our growth, our focus has remained the same: to create meaningful live experiences that support artists, strengthen community connections, and leave a positive impact long after the event ends.
Our Story
2014
The Beginning
Five Acre Co. began with the inaugural Five Acre Shaker, held on Beaver Creek Road as a memorial event honouring local musician Zakk Coss. What started as a one-time gathering quickly revealed the power of live music to bring community together.
2017
The First Expansion
Over the years, the Shaker grew and evolved, moving from Beaver Creek Road to McLean Mill, and eventually to its current home at the Alberni District Fall Fair Grounds in the heart of Port Alberni. Since its inception, the Five Acre Shaker has hosted more than 120 musical acts and continues to raise funds for the Zattzoo Project Society, supporting youth in music.
2020
Building The Tools
When COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill and the future of live events became uncertain, Five Acre Co. refused to remain static. Leveraging a provincial grant, we pivoted into equipment rentals by investing in a premium fleet of professional sound, lighting, and event infrastructure. This strategic expansion transformed us from a niche operator into a full-service production powerhouse. What began as a way to navigate a global crisis has since become our backbone, allowing us to elevate community gatherings, concerts, and festivals across Vancouver Island with world-class gear and expertise.
2023
Establishing a Home
In 2023, Five Acre Co. began operating out of the upstairs space at The KCC, marking a significant step toward creating a dedicated venue for live music, events, and creative collaboration.
Additionally, in 2023, Five Acre Co. expanded its community footprint by launching the Social House, a dedicated space designed for connection and creativity. This versatile venue allowed us to return to our grassroots origins, hosting everything from intimate open mic nights and game nights to private gatherings and local meetups.
This phase focused on refining our programming, strengthening production capacity, and building relationships with artists, promoters, and community partners.
2024
The KCC Today
In 2024, Five Acre Co. moved to the main level, known as The KCC – Social House and Concert Hall, where our large events are hosted, private small or large rentals are had, and many memories are made for all.
2026
Where We Are Now
As of 2026, Five Acre Co. is proud to support artists at every stage of their careers, from emerging talent to established professionals. Through our programming at The KCC, we continue to create opportunities for creative growth and memorable performances.
Beyond our own events, we provide professional stage, sound, and lighting rentals for a wide range of indoor and outdoor events, including concerts, sporting events, festivals, and corporate or community meetings. Our flexible infrastructure and experienced technical team ensure every event is delivered with reliability, quality, and impact.
